Studio Apartment Ban Lifted: A New Step Against Soaring Rent and Housing Prices
Studio Apartment Ban Lifted: A New Step Against Soaring Rent and Housing Prices

Studio (1+0) apartments, which were restricted by a 2017 regulatory amendment requiring "a sleeping area within the living room with a narrow side of at least 2.50 meters and an area of no less than 9 square meters," can now be built again under the new regulation. Critical Warning to Real Estate Investors from Op. Dr. Kenan Kalı

Stating that the housing market began gaining momentum following the Central Bank’s interest rate cuts, Op. Dr. Kenan Kalı, Chairman of the Board of Gözde Group, emphasized that further rate cuts are on the way and that home prices will surge rapidly over the next few months. Reminding that investors had previously kept their savings in banks due to high real interest returns, Kalı stated that the time has now come to redirect these savings into real estate investments. Noting that price increases will accelerate further heading into autumn due to diminishing housing inventory and rising costs, Kalı advised prospective homebuyers to take full advantage of the upcoming two months. Furthermore, pointing out that reducing unit sizes and lowering land costs are essential to making housing more accessible, Kalı highlighted the importance of TOKİ’s land development and social housing initiatives, adding that Gözde Group continues its investments across various parts of Izmir and remains committed to bridging the housing deficit with confidence in the country's economic dynamics.
